The Ukrainian Parliament votes to ban server seizures during searches
Today, Ukrainian MPs backed a bill aimed against bullying, according to which seizures of servers or other digital equipment during searches might be prohibited. If MPs vote for it, and if the bill comes into force, it will positively affect the IT sector and decrease a number of risks for IT companies.
“It’s sad, and it hurts so much, and it’s such a shame. When I meet my colleagues, IT lawyers, somewhere in London or Zurich, I feel so embarrassed, since they talk about personal data, defamation, unfair competition cases, while I have to admit that Ukrainian IT companies are mostly interested in protection against the law enforcement”, comments Dmytro Gadomsky, Attorney-at-Law and CEO in Axon Partners.
