Professional mentoring program in Kyiv-Mohyla Academy: Axon in action

When we applied for the professional mentoring program of the Faculty of Law of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, we thought: oh, a great chance to get cool interns from a cool university, to teach the younger generation and learn from them. And what’s nice is that the university encourages independent communication between mentors and mentees, with minimal interference. Everything is adult. That's how we found the perfect match and created a kind of educational Tinder.

This is how we selected five trainees. Without any hints of sexism, everything is fair because when filling out the mentor form, we swore to Mohylianka that we would show respect, create a friendly atmosphere, be honest, and prevent conflicts of interest (well, we are fun, but wow, how responsible).

Over the next few months, we will train and mentor the interns, and then it can all be counted as an internship at the university. Who knows, maybe some of the students will fall in love with IP, corporate, investment or private equity, tax law, or courts thanks to us, and some will leave the law altogether (we would not want this at all, but what if someone understands themselves and the law in such a way?) It is up to everyone to decide. We will be there for them to have a chance to figure out their preferences in practice and not just sign papers (yes, we know how it goes). Moreover, mentoring is an integral part of Axon Partners’ processes – just take it and use it.

We encourage others to become professional mentors for Kyiv Mohyla Academy. Students should taste what they learn in class!
